Cardiology Fellowship Program

Program Graduates

Since beginning our first fellowship position in July 2002, our growing program has proudly graduated 18 physicians. All of our graduates are certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology; and most of our graduates have additional certifications in Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology. 



Dr. DiNardo, a former U.S. Marine, received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia.  He completed his internship at Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, West Virginia and his residency and fellowship at UMDNJ-SOM.  Dr. DiNardo is currently working in central Kentucky.  He completed training in Cardiac CT at the Cleveland Clinic and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Nuclear Cardiology and Coronary CT Angiography.

Dr. Richard Chang completed his bachelors and his maters degrees in chemistry at Boston University.  Dr. CHange received his medical degree from the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2000 before going to to complete his cardiology fellowship at UMDNJ-SOM.  He completed addition fellowship training in Interventional cardiology at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills, New Jersey.  He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology and Nuclear Cardiology.  Dr. Change is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Osteopathic Association.  Dr. Change holds medical staff privileges at Community Medical Center in Toms River, Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood,, and Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills.

Dr. Godin relocated from Boston to Philadelphia where he received his undergraduate degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  He subsequently received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.  His medical post-graduate training was completed at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Osteopathic Medicine and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.  He was Chief Fellow in the UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship.  After completion of his fellowship, Dr.Godin joined South Jersey Heart Group where he currently remains involved in the education and training of the fellows at UMDNJ.  Dr.Godin is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Cardiology.  He is trained in all aspects of clinical and diagnostic cardiology.  He is also one of the few cardiologists in the South Jersey area trained and certified in performing and interpreting cardiac CT angiography studies (64-clice cardiac CT).

Dr. Zarrella completed his undergraduate course work at Albright College in Reading PA before matriculating to the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Zarrella completed his post-doctoral training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry -- School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford NJ.  He served as both Chief Resident and Chief Cardiology Fellow during his training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.

Dr. Zarrella is board certified in Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine and Internal Medicine.  He practices as an invasive (but non-interventional) cardiologist.  He can be found at any of our practice locations and hospitals.

Dr. David R. Charles brings a diverse background to the fellowship having lived in multiple regions of the country with many educational experiences. Graduating from Catholic High school and attending multiple Jesuit institutions, Dr. Charles has a strong sense of ethics and compassion that reflects in his approach to clinical medicine.  Dr. Charles was born in Philadelphia, PA. Growing up on the West Coast primarily. He received his B.S. in Biology from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA in 1995 and graduated Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002.  Dr. Charles received his M.P.H from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans in 1997 and his M.B.A from St. Joseph’s University School of Business, Philadelphia, PA in 2000. 

Dr. Charles is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and is a board certified electrophysiologist working in Peoria, Illinois.

Dr. Randle. is a 2003 medical graduate from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey – School of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed is internship and residency at UMDNJ-SOM (Kennedy Health System/Our Lady of Lourdes Hosp) where he also served as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. Dr. Randle is currently enrolled in the cardiology fellowship with an expected completion date of June 2009.   Prior to medical school, he obtained his B.S. Biochemistry from Rutgers University – Cook College. Prior to his career in medicine, he spent several years working in the biotechnological - pharmaceutical  industry where he was a valuable part of various research teams. He currently resides in South Jersey and enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Dr. Randle is currently board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology and is a clinical cardiologist at South Jersey Heart Group and serves as the assistant program director of the UMDNJ-SOM Cardiology Fellowship.

Dr. Pressman completed his undergraduate training at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated Cum Laude and was a member of both the tennis and crew teams. He then attended the University of Medicine and Dentistry School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, NJ where he completed both his internship and residency in Internal Medicine. Dr. Pressman is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.  When not at work, he enjoys fishing, tennis and hiking. 

Dr. Pressman is currently an attending cardiologist at  Englewood Community Hospital, in Englewood Florida.  He is certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Deborah Sambucci grew up in the South Jersey area. She attended Rutgers University for her undergraduate degree and The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - School of Osteopathic Medicine for her medical degree. Post-graduate education was obtained at the Kennedy Health Care system and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She currently lives in Marlton, NJ with her husband Mark, her daughter and dog Stella. Dr. Sambucci is currently an attending cardiologist with Cardiology Associates of the Delaware Valley in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Dr. Van Hook is a native of South Jersey. After attending Rowan University, he graduated from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey-School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. He performed his internship at UMDNJ-SOM where he was Chief Medical Intern. Following his internship, Dr. Van Hook his completed residency training in Internal Medicine at UMDNJ-SOM, Kennedy Hospital system and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. After serving as chief fellow, Dr. Van Hook completed and interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular fellowship at Cooper University Medical Center. Dr. Van Hook is certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology and is a board eligible interventional cardiologist. Dr. VanHook is an interventional cardiologist with Atlantic Cardiology in Southern New Jersey.

Dr. DiPaolo-Zingrone is originally from Plymouth Meeting, PA. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA, she graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. She performed her internship in internal medicine and residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Dr. Zingrone also completed a chief resident year within the St. Luke’s system. She currently resides in Hammonton, New Jersey with her husband, Dr. Joseph Zingrone and son, and is an attending cardiologist and the Associate Director of the Women's Heart Center at Deborah Heart and Lung Institute in Browns Mills, New Jersey. Dr.DiPaolo is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology and Echocardiography.

Dr. Kayal is originally from the Northern New Jersey area. He completed his BS from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa in 1998 and his medical school training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002. He then did his postgraduate internship and residency at St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network in Bethlehem, Pa. Upon completion of residency, he remained on staff as a hospitalist for St. Luke's Internal Medicine for two years. He is currently Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Kayal currently resides in Scranton, Pennsylvania with his wife and three children.  Dr. Kayal is an attending cardiologist with a private cardiology practice in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Kopinski grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania. After graduating from the University of Scranton in 2000, he completed his medical school training at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. His post-graduate internship and residency training in internal medicine were completed through UMDNJ-SOM at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and the Kennedy Memorial hospitals in Southern New Jersey. Dr. Kopinski is certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is currently an attending cardiologist with the Geisinger Medical System in State College, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Horwitz grew up in the South Jersey area.  He attended Rutgers University for his undergraduate degree and The University of Medicine and Dentistry -- School of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree.  Post-graduate training was obtained at the Kennedy Health System and Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center.  Dr. Horwitz is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Nuclear Cardiology.. Dr. Horwitz is an attending cardiologist with South Jersey Heart Group.

Dr. Jafir is originally from Northern Virginia.  He graduated from George Mason University for his undergraduate degree in Fairfax, Virginia.  He then later pursued a Master's degree in physiology from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia in 2000 before entering the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine for his medical degree in 2004. He then  completed his postgraduate internship and residency at the Georgetown University program at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. , where he remained on staff as a hospitalist for the Washington Cardiology Center for one year.  He is currently board certified in internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine, he is also certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology. Dr. Jafir is now completing an interventional cardiology at Winthrop Medical Center in Long Island New York, where he lives with his wife.

Dr. O’Neill is originally from Flourtown, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Bloomsburg University in 1999 where he received a Bachelor of Science degree.  He then attended Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and received his medical degree in 2005.  Following medical school, he completed his internship and residency training in Internal Medicine through UMDNJ-SOM at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center and the Kennedy Health System.  Dr. O'Neill is certified in Internal Medicine, Nuclear Cardiolgy and is a board eligible cardiologist.  He is currently working as a clinical cardiologist in Hamilton, New Jersey.  He currently resides in Medford, NJ with his wife and family.

Dr. Abraham is originally from sunny South Florida.  She attended Nova Southeastern University for her undergraduate and medical degree (2006).  She completed her internship and residency at UMDNJ-SOM (Kennedy Health System/Our Lady of Lourdes Hosp) where she served as Chief Medical Intern and then Chief Internal Medicine Resident.  She currently resides in Cherry Hill, NJ with her husband, Mohit and their family. Dr. Abraham is certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Gongidi was born in south India and moved to the United States at the age of nine.  He grew up in Cary, North Carolina and graduated from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.  After attending Touro University of College of Osteopathic Medicine in the San Francisco Bay area, he completed an Internal Medicine residency at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan.  He served as both the Chief Intern and Chief Resident while at Botsford.  He recently graduated from the AOA-sponsored Training in Policy Studies (TIPS) Fellowship.  He currently resides in Center City Philadelphia with his partner, a pediatric Radiologist.  Hobbies included cooking, traveling, and exploring the restaurants and landmarks of Philadelphia.  Dr. Gongidi served as our chief fellow for 2011-2012 and is currently board certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology.  He will be practicing clinical cardiology in the Orlando Florida area.

Dr. Shaikh was born and raised in Flemington, NJ and completed undergraduate degree at Rutgers College in New Brunswick in 2002 where she studied Chemistry and Spanish. She then attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine on Long Island and graduated in 2006. Her Internal Medicine training was at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, NY. Since completing residency Hafeza now has returned to New Jersey and resides in Mount Laurel with her husband Mustafa and their children.  Dr. Shaikh is board certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography and Nuclear Cardiology, and has joined the team of attending cardiologists at South Jersey Heart Group / Lourdes Cardiology Services.
